OpenTap Order Pickup

We are excited to announce brand new functionality in OpenTap to help in these trying times — Order Pickup!

Order Pickup allows you to sell cans, crowlers, growlers and bottles directly in the app and consumers can swing by the brewery for pickup. This allows your fans to continue to support their favorite breweries and keeps revenue coming in.

Here’s a quick preview of how easy it is for people to order and pay for beer (and mead and cider).

To activate a beer for pickup, simply check the box for Online Orders Available (see below).

Choose your container size, give it a price and set a limit (if necessary). Be sure to hit the SAVE button.

In-app Ordering is especially great for crowlers and non-commerical filled cans. As you know hand-filled cans (12, 16, 32oz) are highly susceptible to oxidation and should be filled as close to sale as possible.

When a customer places an order, they can specify a pickup time (see below). This allows you to monitor order quantities and only fill what’s needed (and paid for).

Payment and Payout:

Customers pay for their beers in the OpenTap app via credit card. Funds are collected by OpenTap and dispersed to the brewery via check (minimum of $100 required for payout). OpenTap will charge 7% of the order total to cover credit card processing fees (2.9% +$0.30) maintenance, and hosting fees.

Customers:
Upon purchase, the customer and the brewery both receive an Order Confirmation email. If pickup details need to be adjusted, the brewery will need to contact the customer (via email or phone) to coordinate. Customer data (Full Name, Phone Number and Email Address) are shared with the brewery.

We hope Order Pickup in the OpenTap app is a helpful tool to breweries in these unprecedented times.

Notes:

  • Be sure to include California State Sales Tax + CRV when pricing your beers.

  • This is version 1 of Order Pickup. We built this as fast as possible to allow breweries to start using it immediately. You will have ideas on how to improve it (we already have some). Please share your thoughts, and we’ll work on making this even better in the future.

  • We did not include growlers as an option. We wanted to emphasize quick pickups. Growlers typically involve bringing the growler in, cleaning, sanitizing, filling and labeling. Update: We’ve added 32oz and 64oz growlers and 750ml bottles.

  • The ID of the person picking up the order must match the name on the order.

  • ID must be a valid government issued photo identification (ie: state issued Driver's license).

  • Orders will be held for 2 days from the receipt of the order. if you do not pick up your order within the window you will not be issued a refund.

  • All sales are final.
